No kidding, guys! Alright, here are the tips…Make sure you follow them, okay?
TIP No.1
To be awesome at tattoo shading, first and foremost you must possess the proper tattoo needles. I don’t care if you have 5-star tattooing skills, because without the right needles, you’re going to struggle and the end product is likely to look less than satisfactory.
For tattoo shading, I’d suggest using needles known as Magnums. A lot of pros use them. Most tattooists call them Mags by the way, which is easier to roll off the tongue.
Now, what happens if you use poor quality needles for tattoo shading?
Chances are, you’re going to experience some issues such as discoloration and spotty shading. Also, if you lose focus while doing the shading, you might mess up the light and dark of area of the tattoo.
Mess them up and the shading is likely to turn out really bad. Heck, the tattoo might even look crappy and unrealistic because of this. So to all aspiring tattooists out there, please do not lose focus while you’re working.
TIP No.2
Be a hundred percent aware of the depth of the tattoo needles that you’re using. This is vital so please keep this particular tips glued to your brains. Now, the reason that knowing the depth is so important is because of two critical reasons…
Reason 1:
If the needle doesn’t sink sufficiently into the skin when ink is applied, it increases the chances of the ink fading within a relatively short period of time.
Reason 2:
If the needle sinks in too deep, the client is really going to feel the pain. I recall seeing a customer yelling in great pain because the needle went in deeper than it really should. Let me tell you, it wasn’t a pretty sight…
TIP No.3
Become well versed in maneuvering your tattoo machine in the right manner. You want to get the hang of the movement and angle as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Aspiring tattooists or students who fail to grasp the movement and angle of his or her tattoo machine will likely produce terrible end products i.e. tattoos with horrendous contrast, shading, and dark/light attributes that are highly imbalanced.
Alright guys. These are the only tips I have for you today. I will be sharing more tips in the future so feel free to swing by this site from time to time for updates. Take it easy guys, and don’t forget to keep on tattooing. Practice, practice, and more practice. Good luck!
